"Katja" has been working upright-eared continental shepherd dogs since childhood. She has trained and certified literally hundreds of dogs and has also been a contract handler and certified personally with numerous dogs. She has extensive experience with apprehension, mantrailing, explosives detection, firearms detection, narcotics detection, Search and Rescue, human remains detection, and numerous other canine disciplines. She has held membership in more than 30 certifying organizations over the years and is currently a member of the USPCA, NSDA, OSSA and APA.
We raise numerous dogs from birth here, and not only have puppies with working potential available for sale, but dogs that have been started and ready to finish your way, as well as fully trained dogs ready to start their working careers. While our breeding program is limited to Dutch/Belgian and Eastern European German Shepherd dogs, we do work with other breeders of high quality working dogs of many breeds for single-purpose work. We often have Labs, Pointers, and even Jagdterriers available for sale.
Members of the van der Linden family have been breeding, training and trialing working dogs for over 100 years. We have a standard of selection for our breeding dogs that has stood the test of war and police work time and time again. We are determined to produce strong, confident, physically agile and long-lived multi-purpose dogs that excel in apprehension, mantrailing, detection and tolerate serious environmental pressure while still having social stability and a biddable temperament.
Current members of the van der Linden family live, train and work dogs in Belgium and the Netherlands. Roy van der Linden was active in the Belgian Resistance during WWI, then was able to emigrate with some of his family to the United States where he joined the US Marine Corps in time to fight for the US in WWII. The property in Oregon was purchased in 1978 and is the current home to the breeding and training facility consisting of just over 27 acres. The program is currently owned, managed and operated by Katrina van der Linden.
